VM-810/850

Utility Locators

  • Simple single-button operation
  • Distance-sensitive Left/Right Guidance
  • Real-time, fully automatic gain
  • Depth and current readout
  • Compact, lightweight, rugged design
  • Sonde modes for non-metallic pipes and ducts

Using the correct frequency makes a world of difference when locating buried utilities — depth, size, material and congestion all factor into the right choice. The VM-810 and VM-850 give you two focused options, each with sonde modes to help locate non-metallic pipes and ducts.

The VM-810 operates at 83.1 kHz, ideal for water and gas utilities — larger pipes with bell housings and gaskets — and for ungrounded small-diameter drop wires or inducing signal through the soil where direct connection is not an option.

The VM-850 operates at a much lower 9.82 kHz, ideal for smaller-diameter utilities such as CATV, power and telephone, with less signal bleeding onto adjacent services. Both feature distance-sensitive Left/Right Guidance, automatic gain, and a clear depth and current readout.
