Acoustic Pipe Location System
The COMBIPHON system locates the course of water pipes that cannot be found electromagnetically — including plastic and other non-metallic mains. A COMBIPHON striker or stopper is introduced into the pipe through a hydrant or fitting and generates a rhythmic acoustic pulse; you then trace that pulse along the surface with a ground microphone such as the AquaTest T10. The CG 155 control unit drives the striker/stopper and is operated by wireless remote control at up to 100 m.
The FG 155 C combines the FERROPHON and COMBIPHON systems in one unit, adding full electromagnetic line location (direct and indirect energizing from 512 Hz to 116 kHz, up to 10 W) to the acoustic striker/stopper method — so a single device locates both metallic and non-metallic pipes and cables.
A built-in lead battery gives a long working day (up to 40 h for the CG 155, 50 h for the FG 155 C), and the rugged ABS housing is rated IP54 with the cover closed.
