Duct Hunters

The Duct Hunter™ is a continuous fiberglass duct rodder with a copper wire embedded in the rod core and a red polymer jacket. Connecting a signal transmitter to the rod energizes the wire, letting you trace the continuous path of the pipe with a receiver — with less disruption to roads and landscapes and minimal pavement breakage, excavation and restoration.

It works with any non-conductive pipe — PE, PVC, concrete, clay or tile — and one person can do the job with little or no digging. Trace to depths up to 10 ft, trace sewer laterals to confirm no cross bore has occurred, and trace ductile iron, plastic, tile or concrete pipe. It works with any locator set, and a sonde, roller guide or pulling eye attaches to the rod’s end ferrule.

The line spans ultra-portable Mini Duct Hunter 1/8″ and 3/16″ units up through the Duct Hunter 1/4″, 5/16″ and 7/16″ for larger pipe and longer runs — with pull strengths from 150 to 800 lb. All rodders include a pulling eye or roller guide plus a repair kit, and EZ-REEL™ pre-loaded replacement reels speed up rod swaps.
