Sondes & Adapters for Traceable Rodding
A sonde is a battery-powered locating beacon used to pinpoint the rod end; its signal is detected by a receiver. Using an adapter, the sonde threads onto the rod’s end ferrule to locate the rod tip in underground pipes or conduit — and it can be used with both Duct Hunter™ traceable rodders and Buddy® rodders.
The Jameson 14-169 sonde operates at 512 Hz, includes an N-cell battery for 4–6 hours of continuous use, and traces to depths of up to 12 ft in plastic pipe or 6 ft in cast iron. It is compact — 0.12 lb and 2.25″ x 0.75″ diameter — with a 1/4″-20 female thread.
A full range of flexible spring-and-chain and solid adapters connects the 14-169 — or third-party sondes from Subsite (1/4″-20), Vivax-Metrotech (M10) and Radiodetection (S6 / S9 micro-sondes) — to any Jameson rodder, from the Mini-Duct Hunter up to the Mega Buddy. The 12-165 kit pairs the 14-169 sonde with the 9-169 adapter for Buddy and larger Duct Hunter rods.
