Multifunction Gas Detector (Ex)
The VARIOTEC 480/460/450/400 EX series is a family of ATEX-certified multifunction gas detectors for the gas industry. From a single Ex-rated instrument you can run above-ground leak surveys, measure in bar holes, read gas concentrations across ppm, % LEL and % vol ranges, and check CO and O2 — choosing the model that matches the sensor set you need.
The flagship VARIOTEC 480 EX carries semiconductor, catalytic-combustion and thermal-conductivity sensors plus an optional electrochemical O2/CO sensor, and — on the 480/460 — an integrated gas chromatograph for ethane analysis that reliably distinguishes natural gas from biogenic “swamp” gas. The 460, 450 and 400 step down the sensor set for more focused tasks.
An integrated diaphragm pump with pump-error (F100) monitoring draws the sample, results show on the monochrome 320 x 240 display, and the rugged IP54 housing runs at least 8 hours on four AA cells (rechargeable NiMH or disposable alkaline). USB transfers logged data from the 8 MB memory.
